"Things are there. Why manipulate them?" Roberto Rossellini, one of the most important directors in film history, once asked rhetorically. A couple of generations later, his grandson Alessandro has made a condensed and highly self-therapeutic documentary portrait of his family, its multiple threads and blend of cultures, as well as the influence and imprint it has left on cinema.
The Rossellinis is a unique meeting between the history of world cinema and the contemporary Latvian film industry at RIGA IFF (it is produced by Latvian production company VFS Films). The film's director Alessandro Rossellini, producer Raffaele Brunetti, editor Ilaria de Laurentiis will visit Latvia and meet the audience together with Latvian filmmakers Uldis Cekulis, Valdis Celmiņš and Dāvis Sīmanis.
The conversation with the filmmakers of The Rossellinis will be divided into two parts.
16.00–16.30 | Q&A with the Filmmakers of The Rossellinis
16.30–17.30 | The Rossellinis: A Case Study
