PERSON OF THE YEAR AWARDS
The "PERSON OF THE YEAR AWARD" was developed as part of the Annual Muslim Convention by
Imam W. Deen Mohammed to acknowledge, highlight and honor Muslim-American persons who are making
significant contributions to the community through their time, actions, talents, and dedication. In the
last 12-24 months, the honoree selected should serve as a role model for good works and community
service and be striving to make the world a better place. They should have a passion for helping
others in their community.
ELIGIBILITY
Any community members may be nominated with the exception of Board, Committee, or Council
members of the Mosque Cares and those who have received an award previously from The Mosque Cares. In order to honor new recipients, those who were previously awarded will not be considered.
CRITERIA
Nominees should have consistently demonstrated community service and good works via business,
education, organization, and/or a variety of volunteer activities.
PROCESS
Nominations are submitted to the Convention Planning Committee and will be reviewed by The Mosque Cares and recommendations made. The committee vote determines the winners for that year. If
the decision is very close, runner-up(s) will be contacted for follow-up.
PRESENTATION
Awards will be presented at the Annual Awards Banquet (during the Annual Muslim Convention)
