Search Fund / SMB Board Comp Survey
Hi friends, I've seen the question regarding compensation for board members and advisors come up a number of times in our community. I put together a quick survey for us to be able to openly share with one another and learn together.

The rules are simple -- fill out the form, get the results. I'll email out in a week or two depending on when results stop trickling in.

I left mostly free response boxes here -- please be expansive. The goal is to help other searchers learn from your experiences.

I will send out the responses to those who fill out the survey, but I will not tie responses to emails or other identifying information. Don't include the name of companies in your responses unless you want them shared.

And yes, there's a button for "just send me the data" so we don't get bad results -- but please, if you have seen board comp structures, take a minute to contribute.

Please describe board compensation structures you have seen, in as much detail as possible. Feel free to include multiple structures for multiple deals.
When board members were compensated with CASH, please describe how much and on what frequency and what terms it was paid.
When board members were compensated with EQUITY, please describe how much and on what frequency and what terms it was paid.
Please describe board COMPOSITION -- how many on the board, whether they had distinct roles, how you considered who to put on the board etc.
What worked well in this structure? What didn't? What would you do next time? What advice do you have for others looking to build their first board?
