Cybersecurity Camp for Middle and High School Students
The Citadel is now offering an exciting, new summer camp for rising 8th - 12th grade students. We will host two camps, one for GIRLS Camp (June 17-21, 2024) and one for BOYS Camp (June 24-28, 2024). We will have two additional pre-camp experiences (April 20 VIRTUAL via Zoom and June 1 on campus). This opportunity introduces middle- and high-school students to the basics of cybersecurity, providing mentorship and diverse role models and will assist participants in forming communities of young cybersecurity experts.  The one-week camp (plus pre-camp) will specifically focus on the basic concepts of cybersecurity, first principles of security, network security, cryptography, secure coding, cyber crime and cyber ethics. Faculty from The Citadel's Cyber and Computer Sciences, Mathematics, Criminal Justice and STEM Education departments will teach the GenCyber Summer Camp courses.

The goal of the Citadel Cybersecurity camp is to train middle and high school students in principles and practices of cybersecurity with emphasis on first principles of security. This one-week intensive camp is being offered through a grant provided by GenCyber. GenCyber is a national initiative that is supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the National Security Agency (NSA), and the vision for the GenCyber program is to be part of the solution to the Nation's shortfall of skilled cybersecurity professionals. Ensuring that enough young people are inspired to direct their talents in this area is critical to the future of our country's national and economic security as we become even more reliant on cyber-based technology in every aspect of our daily lives.

Hurry! This camp is only open to 20 girls and 20 boys, and spaces will fill quickly with a waitlist.
