INPUT For Utilizing Outdoor Space To Accommodate Social Distancing Downtown
Under the current County Health Order, businesses are not allowed to use sidewalks or street areas.
As businesses start to prepare for the next phase of limited reopening, there has been much discussion of preparing to utilize outdoor public space (sidewalks and street space) for expanded seating and outdoor dining, in an effort to accommodate social distancing and health and safety guidelines.
In Downtown Santa Cruz, it is hoped that a block by block identification of certain areas to be utilized for seating or display could be made - this may or may not include expanding the parklet program, or partial or full street closures, on a temporary or short term basis.
Any such decisions would be made according to the specific business needs and concerns of EACH BLOCK AND AREA, in addition to accessibility, fire, safety, and emergency vehicle requirements.
We hope this input data from you, the businesses, will provide guidance for decisions the City of Santa Cruz will make to best support a revitalized Downtown.
DEADLINE TO SUBMIT YOUR INPUT IS FRIDAY MAY 29th, 2020
