SSTA PD - FORM A Pre-Approval: 2023-2024
Request for PD Release & Estimated Costs

This form replaces the old “Release from Regular Duties” forms that are no longer used with the Atrieve system. Form A is required if you need release, but is also required so your PD Rep can monitor school allocation and distribution of funds throughout the year.
  
Instructions:
1) As soon as you are considering a PD Event, complete the form, providing details of expenses.
     a. If claiming professional resources (eg. journals, books) provide a detailed list of those resources.
     (Pedagogical/Teacher-Centered books only, Include websites)
2) Contact your administrator to let them know your plans
3) Release requests MUST be submitted prior to the event.
4) Forms submitted to the SSTA are reviewed by the PD Chair who will inform the applicant if the
     request is denied.

PD Expenses that are NOT approved
     • Certification/ Qualification Fees
     • Non-PSA memberships
     • Learning Resources for students
     • Content-based books and novels for teachers
     • Airfare
     • Accommodation and Food for over 2 days 
     • Travel claims such as cell phone and baggage fees
     • Accommodation, Food, and Travel for Summer PD 
     • University and College courses

ATRIEVE INSTRUCTIONS:  
Step 1: In "Absence Information" under "Choose the reason you are away" select "Union Business" (near the bottom)
Step 2: complete "Absence Schedule Details"
Step 3: complete "Replacement Details"
Step 4: in "Leave Application Entry" under "Choose Reason" select "SSTA Paid ProD
Step 5: in “Required Comments” please make sure to indicate “SSTA Professional Development”
