The Alberta Youth Choir is the province's honour choir for singers ages 16-22. AYC provides a unique opportunity for outstanding young singers from across the province to join forces in the pursuit of excellence in choral music under the direction of a renowned conductor.
The 2021 Alberta Youth Choir is composed of 42 outstanding choristers from 24 different choirs and 16 towns and cities, including Edmonton, Calgary, Lethbridge, Red Deer, and Grande Prairie. The choir will be conducted by Michael Zaugg, Artistic Director of Pro Coro Canada.
In an effort to prevent an increase in AYC registration fees in spite of steadily rising program costs, Choir Alberta initiated the AYC Adopt-a-Chorister Campaign. Every adoption makes it possible for a talented young chorister from across the province to take part in this unique and valuable musical experience.
Choristers participate in an online preliminary rehearsal, followed by an in-person residency in Edmonton. AYC will perform in a livestream performance from their outdoor rehearsal venue on Sunday, July 4 at 3:00 p.m.
The cost to adopt an AYC Chorister is $100.00.
As a thank you for your support, contributors to the campaign will receive complimentary access to AYC's livestream performance. You will also receive recognition in all AYC concert programs and on social media! You will be mailed a tax receipt for your donation.
