John Waters -- AKA the Pope of Trash -- has been a fixture in the alternative filmmaking community for nearly 60 years. His audacious, shocking -- yet somehow reverential -- films have transcended cult classics, as he has become a household name and contributed significantly to the art-house cinema canon. Now, on the 60th anniversary of his very first short film, the Great Pop Culture Debate wants to determine: what is the BEST John Waters Film?

For the purposes of this debate, we aren't considering films in which he has made a cameo appearance or worked as an actor or narrator. We're concerned with the films that are undeniably, unmistakably John Waters joints.
