We need volunteer observers who can stop by the Marine Discovery Center and help monitor activity around the Purple Martin gourd rack. This is important in the beginning of the season when we are trying to attract the birds because everyone will want to know if one is spotted! If we get chicks this year we will also need volunteers around the time hatchlings are getting active for frequent visits to help any pre-mature jumpers.
Volunteers will receive instructions on what to look for and how to report their visit with their smartphone. When we begin nest checks, volunteers are invited to attend. We plan on doing gourd drops on Tuesdays at 5pm and Saturday at times to be determined.
