Over a century and a half ago, the Cherokee, native to this area, navigated through the forests using an elaborate system of trail markings.  The trunks of trees were purposely bent to point in a given direction indicating food, water, safety, etc.  To honor those Scouters in our district that mark the path for the youth of our community, the Appalachian Trail District Committee invites each unit to select one person from your unit to receive the Trailblazer Award.

The honoree must be a Scouter registered in your unit and should be a person that has given unselfishly and freely of his/her time and talents for the good of your unit.  Each unit may submit one selection per calendar year. The selection must be approved by the unit committee chair (unless the committee chair is the recipient).  Selections must be submitted using this online form.

Recipients will be recognized at the district banquet in December 2023, and must be at the banquet to receive the award.
