Moms Stop The Harm - Board of Directors  Nomination Form 2024

Completed form must be received by 9 pm Pacific Time, Sunday, May 5, 2025

MOMS STOP THE HARM Board of Directors is actively RECRUITING

Moms Stop The Harm (MSTH) is an organization dedicated to educating, advocating, and supporting families and individuals who have experienced harm due to the toxicity of the drug supply and punitive governmental policies. MSTH is actively looking to increase diversity on our Board of Directors through the next election process at our upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM) on June 1st, 2024.

We are particularly interested in recruiting individuals with financial, fundraising, legal, research and human resource management backgrounds, However,  we encourage all interested individuals to apply, particularly those with lived / living experiences of drug use and/or lived/living experience of supporting a loved one with their drug use.

We are looking to recruit individuals of various backgrounds and communities and with various experiences,  and skill sets to complement the existing board of directors as we work collectively to dismantle harmful drug policies. Experience working within a social justice based non-profit framework is beneficial as is a good understanding of Canadian drug policy, harm reduction and anti-oppression movements.

Note - This is a volunteer position. No compensation will be provided. (If participation on the Board may cause financial hardship, we have provisions in place to remove barriers.)

At this time MSTH is a working board, which requires a minimum time commitment of an average of 15 hours per month, with the expectation that directors attend a monthly board meeting, prepared and ready to discuss agenda items, participate in committee work, (Finance, Communications, Education, Advocacy, etc.) and attend secondary meetings as required. A strong connection to substance use health services, related organizations and/or MSTH members in your home region is also a benefit to the board, the membership and the organization.

Each term is a two year commitment with the provision of an additional two years if interested in continuing.

  • Board composition allows for up to 12 regional board directors and 4 executive board directors and we like to have representation in all regions / provinces of the country.

  • Regional Directors - We have openings in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Quebec.

  • Executive Director - We require a Treasurer with a solid financial background and understanding of Charitable governance.

  • Nomination can be both by referral or by self nomination.

  • Nominations are open until Sunday, May 5, 2024.

  • You must be a Voting member of MSTH to be considered (link to Better Impact)
