Mass NOW Treasurer Board Application
Mass NOW is accepting nominations for the Treasurer position on the Mass NOW Board of Directors. Board members serve on both the Mass NOW Inc. and Mass NOW Foundation boards, which are fun-loving, multi-generational boards of committed, vibrant, passionate individuals.
 
Preferred Qualifications: Mass NOW Board Members will ideally have a background in fundraising, grassroots organizing and outreach. A strategic thinker with excellent communication, organization skills, and a commitment to intersectional feminism is a must. 
 
Treasurer Responsibilities: 
  • In collaboration with the Executive Director, pay bills, submit bills, and deposit checks for Mass NOW Inc. and Foundation;
  • Prepare financial reports for board meetings of Mass NOW Inc. (monthly) and Mass NOW Foundation (every other month);
  • In collaboration with the Executive Director, keep track of all grants awarded to Mass NOW Foundation;
  • Collect mail from post office twice a month;
  • Maintain current records of all financial files, checks, invoices, etc. on google drive;
  • In collaboration with our bookkeeping consultants, maintain QuickBooks, balance/reconcile bank, checkbooks and accounts, maintain debit card records for Mass NOW Inc. and Foundation;
  • Collaborate with Executive Director and Board President to create annual budget;  
  • Manage payroll and health insurance for employee by coordinating with payroll service and health insurance provider;
  • Utilize the MA Sec of State website & other Commonwealth depts. to stay in non-profit compliance;
  • Prepare and coordinate with tax accountants.

General Board Member Responsibilities:
  • Learn about Mass NOW, read financial reports and other Mass NOW documents, and keep up-to-date on Mass NOW programs, finances, and management.
  • Consider yourself an ambassador of Mass NOW and advocate for the organization as frequently as possible.
  • Be a current member of Mass NOW and attend Mass NOW events.
  • Attend all Mass NOW board meetings, unless in the case of personal or family illness, or extenuating personal obligation. Members are expected participate in meetings in person or by phone (only when necessary), using fair, independent judgment, and due care in conducting the business of Mass NOW. Any more than two unexcused absences from Mass NOW board meetings will result in possible termination from the board.
  • Remain on the Board for a term no less than 24 months.

Time Commitment: 10 hours per month on average. Attendance at monthly, virtual, Mass NOW Inc. executive board meetings and bimonthly Mass NOW Foundation board meetings is required.
