Interest Form: Life Cycles of Making in Small Scale Fabrication Spaces

Use this form to share your interest in participating in a research study about "Life Cycles of Making in Small Scale Fabricaiton Spaces." This study is being conducted by George Moore, a PhD candidate in Mechanical Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley. There are three research activities available to parcitpate in: (A) Semi Structured Interview, (B) Virtual Focus Group, and (C) Survey.

(A) SEMI STRUCTURED INTERVIEW: Procedures for the Semi Structured Interview include speaking with George Moore via Zoom for 30 - 45 minutes about small scale fabrication spaces. Notes transcribed from the interview will be documented and analyzed with results from other interviews.

(B) VIRTUAL FOCUS GROUP: Procedures for the Virtual Focus Group include participating in a group discussion and virtual activity via Zoom, facilitated by George Moore. Notes from group discussion and documents produced in the virtual activity will be transcribed and collected.

(C) SURVEY: Procedures for the Survey include sharing your knowledge about the life cycles of making in small scale fabrication spaces by answering various prompts. Survey responses will be compiled and analyzed to draw insights about making practices in small scale fabrication spaces.

Data from the semi structured interviews, virtual focus group, and survey will contribute to George Moore's dissertation at UC Berkeley and potential peer-reviewed publications at academic conferences or in academic journals.

Participation in all research activities is voluntary. Moreover, participants are welcome to discontinue their role in any of the research activities at any time.

While supplies last, participants will be compensated with a gift card (distributed via email). $40 for Semi Structured Interview participants. $30 for Virtual Focus Group participants, and $20 for Survey participants.
