301 Scouting Policy Acknowledgment

Parental Acknowledgement for 301 Scouting

The goal and mission of 301 Scouting is to provide opportunities for boys and girls in the BSA Scouting program. All of our programs are built upon the Scout Oath and Law preparing our scouts to be tomorrow’s community and business leaders. This is done through scout-led programs with the assistance and guidance of trained adults who volunteer their time to make scouting a great experience. Above all, the safety of every scout, adult leader and other volunteers is paramount to the success of this organization. The Scoutmaster of each unit has ultimate discretion on ensuring safety and adherence to the BSA Scouting program.

With that in mind, please read and acknowledge each summary statement and sign and date at the end.

Scout Oath & Law: I will encourage my Scout to live the Scout Law and Oath every day and agree to abide by the Scouter Code of Conduct.

*
Required

Timely payments: I will be timely on payments of troop dues and fees including weekend campouts and summer camps. I understand that if my scout’s account has a negative balance of more than $100, my scout may not be able to participate in campouts or extracurricular activities until payment is received or with Treasurer and Scoutmaster approval.

*
Required

Non-Refundable: In some circumstances, there may be camp payments that are non-refundable  depending upon the refund policy of the specific camp. When 301 Scouting is made aware of those non-refundable dates, they will be communicated to the parents/guardians.

*
Required

Uniform: It is understood that proper BSA uniform requirements - including proper footwear, i.e., hiking shoes, close-toed shoes, tennis shoes - exist. On all campouts, the Scout must be in Class A uniform to travel including proper shoes or the Scout will not be allowed to travel. In addition, I will do my best to attach or remove rank and leadership patches as quickly as possible to the uniform after Court of Honor, troop elections or Scout leadership appointment.

*
Required

Campouts: For all campouts, an adult check-in is required for all Scouts prior to departure time. This will include permission slips, phone waivers, medical instructions and medication if required. Upon arrival back at the church, NO scout shall leave the church until the trailers are unloaded and behind the gates, all personal gear is accounted for and a parent/guardian is available to take the Scout home. The SPLs will dismiss the troop together. Any exceptions must be approved by the Scoutmaster PRIOR to departure.

*
Required
Electronics: It is encouraged to leave ALL phones and electronics at home during all Scouting activities - campouts, summer camps, service activities, etc. If a Scout chooses to bring a device to an event, they do so at their own risk. 301 Scouting will not be responsible for any lost or damaged phone or electronic device during a Scouting event.
*
Required

Medication: If medication is required for a Scout during campouts, the parent will bring the medication and turn it in during check-in. The medication must  be in the original container and with the original label. It is important that the Scout is aware of the medication and their responsibility to obtain medication from the Medical Coordinator for the campout. Any medical condition requiring special instructions (i.e. shots, monitoring, etc.) to be administered during the campout requires a parent/guardian of the scout to attend the campout. That parent/guardian must be properly registered and qualified to attend the campout per BSA requirements. Qualification includes full Youth Protection Training and full background check by BSA.
