Girls will be placed in their top STEAM choice in addition to two other STEAM workshops. We can not guarantee placement of your top choice, as classes sizes are limited due to COVID. We recommend registering early.
STEM/STEAM Beauty: Girls will gain hands on experience in Cosmetic Chemistry. They will be engaged with how science plays a role in their body chemistry. We will explore how beauty is more than just hair and make-up and how it relates to Science, Technology, Entrepreneurship, and Mathematics. They will measure ingredients, convert measurements from ounces to grams, identify elements on a periodic table and problem solve as they mix up batches of slime face mask, sugar lip scrub, body butters and glossy lip glitter. We will also discuss love your skin! *

STEM/STEAM FASHION
STEM/STEAM Fashion: Are you a fashionista? Do you love fashion. Girls will explore fashion through the lens of STEAM. They will gain an understanding of fashion fundamentals and scientific facts as it relates to fabrics and body measurements. They will also explore the art of sewing while creating and making their own, shirts and tutus. *

STEM/STEAM DANCE
STEM/STEAM Dance: We will use the latest Tic-Toc technology, music and dance to empower, educate, and encourage girls as our next generation of engineers and techies. Our students build their confidence through dance and create challenging, technology-infused performances – ultimately building the skills needed for a future in STEM/STEAM. *

STEM/STEAM Art: Who says science can’t be art? We definitely don’t! Girls will enjoy science through painting and drawing on a canvas. They will explore different types of painting oils, colors and so much more. *

STEM/STEAM Health: Show girls how to eat and live well through fun educational demonstrations and healthy taste testing samples. Girls will learn how their  muscular system works or how playing sports benefit their bodies and brain. They will explore nutritional profiles and compare sugar amounts in their favorite foods. Girls will have fun through our hip-hop exercise demonstration. *

STEA/STEAM MENTAL HEALTH
STEM/STEAM Mental Health:  Approximately 1 in 5 teens are diagnosed with a mental illness and the rate for suicide has doubled. Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death and 80% of teens are obsessed and have unhealthy lifestyles. Girls will learn the science behind why we think the way we think and act the way we act. Girls will learn techniques to eliminate stigma, open up conversations about teen mental health today. Girls will be empowered with tools that promote connection, wellness and self-care in order to build resilience so that they are better equipped to cope with stress and challenging situations. *

Photography/Videotaping of Students at STEM Summer Day Camp                                                                  Students may be photographed and videotaped while participating in Girls Can STEM/STEAM Camp activities. Photos and video will be the property of iSparkle2 and may be shared with local newspaper or used by isparkle2. Submitting this signed registration form indicates your consent for media recordings involving the student above to be allowed for public view.
