Get and grow a tree!
San Diegans that are ready to water and care for a tree but cannot afford it can apply below for a free tree to plant in their front or back yard.  Arborists selected these trees because they grow well in San Diego and are small (5-gallon containers), so they adapt well and are are easy to plant. Community members have donated funds for these purchases.

All applicants will be notified by email, and those approved can pick up the tree at Walter Andersen Nursery in Old Town. List of available trees at https://katestrees.org/which-tree-to-plant/.

How do you plan to water the tree(s)? Trees require water twice a week in the first year, weekly in the second and third years, and monthly deep watering in the future. *
