On Tuesday, February 21, Rosh Hodesh Adar, we will have a special shiur on Megillat Esther, commemorating the Yahrzeit of Paul Venze, alav haShalom, Anne's father. We will explore the teaching in the Gemara Megillah 15a: "Rabbi Eleazar said in the name of Rabbi Haninah: 'Whoever quotes a statement in the name of the one who said it brings salvation to the world." At the root of this principle is an ethical and spiritual vision: transcending oneself for the sake of care and respect for others. This principle was pivotal in the salvation of the Jewish community in the time of Esther and Mordechai, and vital in addressing the many challenges facing humanity in our time.
