Thank you for your interest in the Children's Advocacy Center's Summer Workshop Series! This series is geared towards Southern Arizona community members, professionals, and providers. All workshops in this series will be offered virtually via zoom on Thursdays from 12-1pm starting June 1st and finishing on July 27th. Each session is a standalone training, meaning you don't have to attend all of them in order to follow what's going on. Come when you can, or when the topic is most of interest to you. Unless otherwise indicated, all workshops will be lead by the CAC's Training & Community Outreach Coordinator, Sarah Reed.

Thursday, June 1st 12-1pm Introduction to Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES): Covers what are ACES, what impact they have on children's brains and bodies, and what we can do about it.

Thursday, June 8th 12-1pm The 5 Protective Factors for Strengthening Families: An introduction to the Protective Factors that help families withstand stressors and prevent child maltreatment.

Thursday, June 15th 12-1pm Building Resilience in Parents and Caregivers: Learn how to help others grow in resilience so as to manage life's stressors, and perhaps even grow in resilience yourself.

Thursday, June 22nd 12-1pm Helping Families Connect to Resources: Families need more than just a list of resources - they need access to real concrete supports.

Thursday, June 29th 12-1pm The Secret Life of Kinship Caregivers with Anna Loebe: Learn how to best support kinships families.

Thursday, July 6th 12-1pm The NEAR Sciences: An introduction to the Neuroscience of Trauma, Epigenetics, ACES, and Resilience.

Thursday, July 13th 12-1pm Trauma-Informed Care: Understand the importance of changing the lens we use when working with vulnerable families, and how to prevent further harm.

Thursday, July 20th 12-1pm People Raising Other People's Children Wish... with Anna Loebe: Learn how to support foster/adopt families and their unique needs.

Thursday, July 27th 12-1pm Vicarious Trauma and Self-Care for Providers: The work we do with vulnerable families impacts us. This workshop focuses on how to maintain our joy while serving others.
