AP Capstone Application                       Cherokee Trail High School
The AP Capstone Program's first course, AP Seminar, will be available to incoming juniors who are also registering for AP English Language and Composition. The course is also available for incoming sophomores who are in good academic standing and enrolling in AP US Government and Politics. AP Seminar, the first of two required classes within the AP Capstone, will engage students in cross-curricular conversations that explore academic and real-world issues. The purpose of AP Seminar is to establish a foundation for the second required course within AP Capstone--AP Research--to be taken in the senior year.

AP Seminar students will...
   * Analyze and evaluate information with accuracy and precision
   * Craft and communicate evidence-based arguments
   * Examine one or more themes, focusing on deep interdisciplinary exploration of topics
   * Complete a team project and presentation
   * Complete an individual research-based essay and presentation
   * Prepare for and take an end-of-course exam

THIS APPLICATION MUST BE SUBMITTED NO LATER THAN March 6 @ 4:00 PM. All applications will be reviewed by the selection committee, which will consider the following questions:
   * Is the student qualified for and registered to take AP English Language?
   * Is the student in good academic standing?
   * Is the student consistently present at school?
   * Does the student have the support of involved stakeholders, including parents and current teachers?
