Integrating EDMR into Your Clinical Practice: Five-Day Intensive with Roy Kiessling is recognized as an EMDR Basic Training by both EMDRIA and EMDR Canada. Due to inconsistent regulation of psychotherapy across Canada, EMDR Canada requires all Canadian EMDR Basic Training applicants to have these following prerequisites:
A. EDUCATIONAL PREREQUISITE
Completion of a masters degree or higher in a program that focuses at least two years full-time in an established mental health discipline:
from a university that is a member** of Universities Canada
https://www.univcan.ca/universities/member-universities/; OR
from a university in the USA that is accredited by one of the six Regional Accrediting Organizations by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation
https://www.chea.org/search-institutions; OR
from a university or seminary in the United States or Canada that is accredited by the Association of Theological Schools (ATS)
https://www.ats.edu/member-schools, and their degree was approved at the time it was granted.
To avoid disappointment, please check your credentials carefully. Students who have completed their course work and are currently enrolled in a supervised clinic program are eligible to take Basic EMDR Training provided they submit proof that they are nearing completion of their degree and that they submit a MOU set up between themselves and their supervisor. Please contact
emily@leadingedgeseminars.org to get a sample MOU you can use.
B. MEMBERSHIP IN A PROFESSIONAL REGULATORY BODY
An acceptable level of membership in a Professional Regulatory Body that has been approved by the Professional Affairs Committee of EMDR Canada. Please refer to the list of recognized regulatory bodies and approved designations here:

emily@leadingedgseminars.org for instructions on how to set up a MOU.
C. PROFESSIONAL LIABILITY INSURANCE
Training participants understand that they may only practice EMDR when clients are covered by the practitioner’s own professional liability insurance OR the professional liability insurance of an established agency or company or an academic institution.
**Programs completed at Yorkville University (New Brunswick) and Adler (Vancouver and Chicago campuses ONLY) are also recognized by EMDRA Canada
