Volunteer Tutoring Sign Up
Horizons at BFS, an organization hosted at BFS that supports learning and enrichment for public school students, is seeking student volunteers to support their elementary school students with homework help and online learning. Horizons students are currently working from home, virtually, and many need assistance with elementary level reading, science, history, math and even Spanish! Volunteers will work with each student for 1 - 2 hours per week in a ZOOM virtual study hall. Please email Aubrie at atherrien@brooklynfriends.org if you'd like to volunteer!

BFS is proud to partner with Horizons to establish a “peer tutoring program,” which will allow qualified BFS students the opportunity to provide help and guidance with academic subjects, homework, and study/review to Horizon's students.

Tutoring sessions will be conducted by ZOOM video-conference, typically lasting no longer than 1 hour.  At least one member of a Horizons student's family will be present for each session. The tutoring sessions will be recorded, and a BFS employee will monitor the sessions remotely on an intermittent basis.

BFS encourages students interested in volunteering for this program to fill out the form above, indicating an academic area (and grade level) in which they are proficient and comfortable tutoring another student.
