Kapa Haka with Tina ~ Māori Performing Arts [L&C][AR] Term 2, 2021
HOMESCHOOL KAPA HAKA GROUP ~ THURSDAYS AT THE HASCA HUB
 
What:    Come and learn some traditional and contemporary Māori song & dance items.

This class will be a fun, active beginner's introduction to Kapa Haka.
             
Miriam Koit is coordinating with class. The tutor is Tina Talaić.

Who:     This class is for children of all ages, parents welcome too.

When:    Thursdays 11:00 am to 12:00 pm, 8 weeks from 13 May - 1 July, 2021

Where:   HASCA Hub, YMCA North Shore, 5 Akoranga Drive, Northcote (stadium 1)

Kapa haka is the term for Māori performing arts and literally means a group (kapa) who perform (haka).

Kapa Haka is an emotional and powerful combination of song, dance and chanting. Kapa haka is traditionally performed by cultural groups on the marae, at schools, and during special events and festivals.

Introducing Tina
Kia ora koutou Ko Tina Talaic taku ingoa, he uri tēnei nō Ngāti Kahungunu, Ngāi Tūhoe, Waikato Tainui hoki Nei rā te mihi maioha ki a koutou katoa e te iwi.

Hi my name is Tina Talaic. My iwi are Ngāti Kahungunu in the Hawkes Bay, Ngāi Tūhoe, Ruatoki in the Bay Of Plenty & also Tainui in the Waikato.

I grew up in very musical Whānau of singer, songwriter musicians & I enjoy teaching kapahaka to children. I have been teaching Waiata & kapahaka the last 5 years locally on the North Shore. Nau mai, haere mai.

Everyone is welcome, even parents can join in.
