2024 Hazen-Hall Education Scholarship
Criteria

The Hazen-Hall Education Scholarship was established to honor the generations of educators in Lindsey and Jay Hall's family and the family’s presence in the Mahomet area for over 100 years.  

The Hazen Bridge on Road 2600 is a historically preserved landmark, named after Jay Hall’s great, great grandfather.  Jay Hall’s grandfather, Horace Hazen, graduated from Mahomet High School in 1911.  This was located on the NW corner of Division/Main Streets, where Middletown School once stood. 


Eligible Candidates
Any current Mahomet-Seymour High School senior who plans to continue education beyond high school at a community college or four-year state (Illinois) University with the goal of becoming a teacher/PreK-12 educator. 

Fiscal Parameters
The scholarship amount will be $1000 for use by the recipient to pay for expenses related to their initial year of post-high school education following his or her graduation from Mahomet-Seymour High School.

Application Review
The applications will be reviewed by a team of individuals consisting of members of the Mahomet- Seymour Education Foundation Scholarship Committee

Emphasis will be given to:
 The applicant who is involved in community service
The applicant whose grades reflect his/her potential to achieve academic excellence
 The applicant's financial need
The applicant's involvement in extra-curricular activities 
 The applicant who demonstrated commitment to education

The Hazen-Hall Education Scholarship is facilitated through the Mahomet-Seymour Education Foundation (MSEF). The MSEF ​has made significant contributions to education since 1994. Our creed, Excellence in Education, is our commitment to enhancing our children’s education by providing them with challenging and enriching opportunities.

The MSEF promotes academic excellence by awarding Junior High School students the Luke Busch H.E.A.R.T. Award every quarter, awarding students from Lincoln Trail and High School the Student of the Month Award, and partnering with the M-S Secondary Schools PTO to honor high school students with academic letters. Additionally each year, several college scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors.
