2023-24 Volunteer Background Check
The following background check guidelines apply to Hope Chinese Charter School licensed and classified employees, substitutes, service providers and volunteers. In addition, Juvenile Offender checks apply to high school students working with middle, elementary or disabled students and middle school students working with elementary students in school-sponsored programs.  To ensure the safety of our students and facility, Hope Chinese Charter School and Tiny Dragons require biennial background checks of the following:

All volunteers;
All Board members;
All enrichment program vendors or other personnel that may have contact with children

Exceptions to background checks will only be made when the principal/administrator can certify that there is no potential for unsupervised contact with students due to all 3 of the following conditions being met at all times: 1) limited onsite visit; 2) no student supervision responsibilities; and 3) within sight and sound of a licensed staff  member.
 
Anyone who has been convicted of the crimes listed in ORS 342.143 is ineligible to work or volunteer at Hope Chinese Charter School. Those who have been convicted of lesser crimes will be considered on a case-by-case basis. For more information, please contact the Public Safety Office (503-356-4444).

Background checks must be renewed every two years.

Criminal History Inquiry
This criminal history inquiry will only search those records resulting from an arrest which occurred within the state of Oregon. The Open Records Unit will report any record of a conviction and any record of an arrest less than one year old in which there has been no acquittal or dismissal. Open Records must notify the individual of the request and who is making the request, and their cost for criminal history information is $33.00 per request and is non-refundable.
