The Eating Disorders Coalition (EDC) is collecting stories from individuals who have been negatively impacted by social media. This includes stories from children, teens, their family members, healthcare providers, and activists.
Stories may be shared with Members of Congress to show constituent support for the Kids Online Safety Act (S.1409) (KOSA). Stories may also be shared on EDC's social media pages, website, in monthly newsletter, or in press releases.
KOSA will address harms posed by social media platforms, enhance user and parent controls to disable ads and protect privacy, and hold accountable platforms' push of harmful content to young users. Instagram is home to 90,000 pro-eating disorder content creators reaching 20 million followers and profit more than $230 million annually from this content.
