* Indicates a MUCH needed (high priority) volunteer opportunity for our class.

* Teacher’s Best Friend (Clerical): (Need 1-2 volunteer)
This is by far one of my biggest area of need. I would really appreciate any help you can offer! Volunteers would come in once a week (or more!) to copy and prepare materials for upcoming lessons. (You pick the day/time to come in.)

* Fabulous Room Parent(s): (Need 2-3 volunteers)
Room parents are our PARTY PLANNERS! We will have many parties throughout the year. Room parents arrange materials, food, decorations, and volunteers for each party. I will meet with you at the beginning of the year to go over the position in more detail! (Ongoing communication and organizing as needed throughout the year.)

* Wednesday Folders: (Need 1 volunteer and possible substitute)
Volunteers would come in every Wednesday to file assignments and flyers to be sent home in the students’ Wednesday folders. Come in every week or split the position with a friend and work every other week! (You pick the day/time to come in - preferably Wednesday morning.)

* Book Chatter: (2 volunteers)
This volunteer would interview students about their current independent reading novel. Questions will be provided.

* Language Arts Leader: (Need 2 volunteers and possible substitutes as well)
This is another critical job of our class. This volunteer would come in once a week at a specific time and lead a small group of students with Language Arts (mostly reading). The lesson is prepared for you already. You would just need to come in 5 minutes early and read over the lesson. Six to seven students will meet with you in the quiet room for roughly 30 minutes during this lesson. This will require a volunteer that can handle leading a group and enforcing rules if necessary. This is a very important and rewarding job.

Class Photographer: (Need 1 volunteer)
The class photographer would attend special lessons and events throughout the year to capture all of the fun and excitement on camera. You may also come in to take snapshots of individual students and completed projects. No special camera/lighting required – just a good eye and some time to develop photos! (On an as needed basis. We communicate via phone/email prior to events.)

* Gold Rush Day/Colonial Day Coordinators: (Need 4 volunteers - 2 per grade level)
The 4th and 5th grade teams will have fun-filled days of activities for the kids to participate in towards the end of the year. Each class is responsible for 2 stations. We have the day already planned out, but we will need a parent to help coordinate volunteers for the stations and lunch in the classroom. This is such a fun event! Planning would start around the beginning of February.
