Rainbow Families' Experiences with Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) Services

Rainbow Families, working with Early Childhood Australia, the peak early childhood advocacy organisation, is working to develop professional learning resources for educators on family diversity and how to support children of LGBTQ+ parents.

These resources will enable early childhood educators to create learning opportunities for 0-8 year old children Australia-wide to learn about the diversity of families, LGBTQ+ parented families specifically and how diversity is a positive part of Australian society.

By creating early awareness with children 0-8, it is more likely that children of LGBTQ+ parents will experience less discrimination and disadvantage as they grow up.

To support the development of these resources and inform best practices, we would like to hear positive and negative experiences from LGBTQ+ parents whose children attended ECEC services including long day care, family day care, preschool and or outside school hours care. Additionally, as part of the development of these resources, we will be filming within services, filming with a few families and creating case studies and we are interested in developing a list of services and families to be considered for inclusion.

The survey will take about 5-10 minutes to complete and we thank you in advance for your participation and interest in helping us reduce the discrimination and disadvantage faced by many children with LGBTQ+ parents.

Thank you!
