Year 7/8 Hockey Registration 2020
Dear Parent/Caregiver

Your child has expressed interest in playing Hockey for Papamoa College in 2020. This letter is to inform you about the expectations and what the coming season will involve. The Hockey season commences in midterm 1 with pre-season and trials and with competitions, games start at the beginning of term 2 2020

REGISTRATION:
ALL students wanting to play Hockey in 2020 must register their interest by completing this online Hockey Registration 2020 form. Links to this form can be found on the Papamoa College Sports Facebook Page they will also be emailed out to students.  Registrations will close on February 12th Feb 2020

PRE-SEASON SKILLS/ Have a Go:  
Papamoa College Hockey coaches will be running a series of skill sessions leading up to trials. The cost for this will be $10 a student and sessions will run from 4:30 - 5:30 pm on Thursday  20th, 27th Feb & 5th,12 March 2020 at the Mt Maunganui Hockey Turf, Kawaka Street, Mt Maunganui. This is an ideal opportunity for players to get some training time before trials or give hockey a go. (Please register below).

TRIAL DATES:
Year 7 and 8 trials will also be held at the Mt Maunganui Hockey Turf as follows:
Tuesday 24 March from 4.30 pm - 5.30 pm
Thursday 26 March from 4.30 pm - 5.30 pm
 Students will need to bring their hockey stick, shin guards, PE gear, mouth guard and water bottle.

GAME INFO:
Games are played on Friday nights with most games taking place at the Mt Maunganui Hockey Turf,  there may be the occasional match played at either Bethlehem College or Tauranga Boys’ College.

Training
Training for all 7/8 teams will begin towards the end of term one and will be held on Thursdays after school at Mt Maunganui Hockey Turf. Times for each team will be confirmed once they have been allocated by Tauranga hockey.

FEES:
Hockey fees for the 2020 season are $210.00. All fees cover the cost of team entry fees, turf fees & equipment costs. Fees must be paid prior to the commencement of trials.

If your child has outstanding Sports Fees from previous years they will not be eligible to play sport for Papamoa College until paid in full. Payments can be made by cash or cheque (made out to Papamoa College) and paid to Reception or directly into the school bank account 12-3407-0013800-00 ASB Papamoa. Please ensure you include on your payment details the name and identification number of the student.

UNIFORM:
Students will be allocated a uniform for the season. A $40.00 fee will be charged for uniform hire which includes a $20.00 bond.  This will be refunded at the end of the season when the uniform has been returned in a clean and tidy condition.  

TRANSPORT:
It is the responsibility of the student's parents/caregivers to transport their own student to games and training.

DRAWS:
The hockey draw can be accessed on the website http://www.tgahockey.co.nz. It is the student’s responsibility to know when the games are each week. Cancellations will be made on the day of play and uploaded onto Tauranga Hockey's website and Facebook page.

AIMS TEAM:
Aims team/s will be selected at Hockey Trials in March. The number of teams we enter will be dependant on the player depth and coach/manager support for the week of AIMS. Students will be noticed if they have made an AIMS team ASAP after trials.  Please indicate below if they want to be considered for AIMS 2020.

Fees to attend AIMS we estimate between $110-130 for 2020.

COACHES/MANAGERS:
We rely on the help of volunteers by way of coaching and managing our sports teams. Each team is required to have a coach, manager, and umpire. If any family or whanau are interested in helping out in either capacity, please indicate below and an application pack will be sent. If a team cannot provide an umpire, team members may need to pay for one provided by the Tauranga Hockey Association.
