Richmond primary transfer 2024 - request to change school preferences after national offer day.

This is not an application form. This form must only be used for requesting school preference changes for an existing application.  

Families who have not yet applied for Reception place at primary school for September 2024 entry, should apply online via the eAdmissions website. This includes families moving into the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames from 16 April 2024.

This request form is only to be used by Richmond residents who wish to change preferences on an existing application where an outcome letter has been received. This includes preferences for schools in another borough.

Do not use this form to request that your child be added to the waiting list for an existing higher preference school as this is done automatically.

The preferences you name will replace any on your existing application, and it is your responsibility to include any preferences that you wish to retain from your existing application.

Your request will be delayed if you do not make your intentions clear and we are required to contact you for clarification. This may affect your child's chances of being offered a place at a preferred school from the waiting list.

Families who are resident in another borough must submit a change of preference through their home local authority, even if you intend to name a Richmond school. Invalid requests will not be processed and will be discarded.

Further offers
From Monday 20 May 2024, we will re-offer any Richmond school places that may have become vacant since original offers were made. These will be made in accordance with the waiting list, which must be held in the individual school’s admission criteria order.

The regulations do not allow for your child to have any additional priority on the waiting list if they are currently unplaced.  

Any further offer will not be shown on your eAdmissions account. This is only a portal for you to make an application, and receive your initial offer if you applied on-time. Any further offers will be made by the Admissions team (or your home local authority if you live out of the borough) and will be communicated to you by email. The schools must not make any further offers themselves under national coordination.
Waiting lists
Your child’s name will automatically be placed on the waiting list, in criteria order, of any school that is a higher preference than the school they have been offered. The names of late applicants will be added to waiting lists in criteria order regardless of the date the application was received.

Waiting list positions are subject to change. Waiting lists must be re-ranked each time a new application is received. You should be aware that if an application is received for a child who has higher priority under the school’s admission criteria, it can affect your child’s position on a waiting list. They can move down as well as up the list.

Waiting lists for the academic year 2024/25  will be disbanded at the end of the summer term.  You must make an in-year transfer application  no sooner than June 2025 for your child's name to be added to the waiting lists for the academic year 2025/26.

Selective and faith schools are responsible for ranking their own applications and you will need to contact them directly for waiting list information.
