Hello and thank you so much for your interest in fostering a dog through Nana’s Haven. We love that you are interested in fostering! As a foster, you will be committing to take care of your foster dog until s/he gets adopted. It's important to keep in mind that each dog has had a traumatizing past. Just like people, dogs have different personalities and behavior traits, and certain behaviors may come out over time that we were originally unaware of. We do our best to assess each dog before placing them into a foster home to ensure success for our dogs and foster parents. We cannot thank our fosters enough for being a huge part of our team at Nana's Haven.

We always love when our fosters adopt but please remember that individual fosters do not have ownership rights of Nana's Haven's dogs. If you would like to adopt, you will need to pay the adoption and flight fee like any other adopter. Nana’s Haven has the right to take back dogs at any time. While we appreciate your time and love our fosters, you must understand that our adoption fee is needed to keep our organization running and operating for our dogs.

What we expect from our fosters:

- give lots of love and attention
- be patient and work with the dog to adjust to a new life
- spend quality time every day to build trust and and get the dog to feel safe and comfortable
- develop routines to create stability
- hold onto any paperwork given to you on the dog
- move any electronics, wires, plants, shoes, or open garbage cans out of your foster dog's reach
- send updates with pictures and videos on the dog 2x/week about progress, behavior, and personality
- purchase food (if the dog is on a certain restricted diet, Nana's Haven will supply)
- provide the dog with a harness, sturdy leash, bed, toys and bathing supplies
- commit to fostering the dog until a successful adoption (can range from weeks to months)
- try your best to be accommodating to potential adopters and meet anyone who is approved and interested in adopting the dog you are fostering


Note that any vet/medical care needed will be covered by Nana's Haven.
