Energy Savings Relief Grant for Congregations
Hoosier Interfaith Power & Light is working to distribute funds to communities impacted by COVID to help them reduce their energy costs and save money in their congregational buildings.
Qualifications:
1. Congregations must use the money for energy efficiency enhancements on their congregational buildings.
2. Congregations with 1000 members or less and those that are economically stressed will be prioritized
3. 15% or more matching grants will be given priority
4. Grant requests can be made of up to $1000 dollars.

Use of the space is managed so that they heat and cool people not empty spaces
Management of thermostats: winter 50 degrees in unoccupied spaces, summer 80 degrees in unoccupied spaces
Buildings are sealed, meaning few cracks around windows, doors, ceilings, foundations, electric and plumbing penetrations in exterior walls
Efficient and well maintained furnaces and air conditioners
Installed double or triple pane windows (vs. single pane)
All LED interior and exterior lighting vs older lighting systems
Upgraded to Energy Star appliances
Installed occupancy sensors vs manual switches in bathrooms controlling lights and exhaust fans
Insulated ducts
Lower temperature setting and insulated water heaters
Installed solar panels
Created a team of dedicated folks who love to cut waste, save money, and care for the planet
Conducted a free energy audit with my electric utility

Would you be interested in joining our Thriving Faith Communities program? Included in this program is a requirement that you track your energy consumption using a tool called Energy Stewards. Benchmarking is an important step to reducing your congregations energy consumption. If so, we will add $200 to your grant request to cover the subscription for the first year of this program.
