All of the choirs at Los Alamitos High School maintain a busy performance and rehearsal schedule. Each choir has a special focus, but all uphold the level of excellence that has become the tradition in vocal music at Los Al. Sound FX (FX) is our advanced mixed show choir. Sound FX competes at the highest level, with specially designed sets, best-in-the-business choreography and in-depth vocal nuances that create performances second to none. An audition-only group, members of Sound FX may be new to the school, choir program or they can be an existing choir member. Performance demands are high. In addition to regular classes every day, students also have additional rehearsals weekly as deemed necessary. Prospective performers are expected to demonstrate advanced vocal and dance skills, as well as an extended commitment to after school rehearsals and a busy performance schedule. Sound FX seeks those who are talented, passionate, dedicated to their craft and who are willing to put in the extra time and energy to reach the pinnacle of competitive show choir, representing Los Alamitos High School throughout Southern California and nationally during our competition season which runs January through April. Auditions are open to students of all grades. *Sound FX members must be enrolled in a second choir class (Sopranos/Altos: Xpressions; Tenors/Basses: Xpressions or Xtreme). Soundtrax (TX) is our advanced treble voice show choir. An audition-only group, members of Soundtrax may be new to the school, choir program or they can be an existing choir member. Performance demands are high. In addition to regular classes every day, students also have additional rehearsals weekly as deemed necessary. Prospective performers are expected to demonstrate advanced vocal and dance skills, as well as an extended commitment to after school rehearsals and a busy performance schedule. Xquisite (XQ) is our intermediate treble voice show choir. An audition-only group, members of Xquisite may be new to the school, choir program or they can be an existing choir member. Axcent (AX) is our novice treble voice show choir and is one of the foundations of our program. It is non-auditioned and open to any treble voice wishing to sing and dance. A first experience with show choir for many; they combine with other students of all levels to create dynamic and entertaining shows on stage. NO AUDITION REQUIRED

Xtreme (XT) is our tenor/bass show choir. From novice to experienced, it is open to every tenor/bass student on campus willing to sing and dance. This talented bunch hits the stage with an energy and presence that's unparalleled on the competition circuit. NO AUDITION REQUIRED

Xpressions (XP) is our mixed voice concert choir. This zero-period choir performs a wide variety of music, from contemporary to classical, with a focus on music theory and a deeper understanding of musical compositions. In addition to performing traditional choral literature, they also sing and dance Broadway and pop style music. Required performances include shows at Los Al and may include a variety of community events and festivals. As a zero-period choir, attendance and promptness are integral parts of the curriculum. Auditions are open to students of all grade levels. VOCAL AUDITION REQUIRED (NO DANCE AUDITION)

Vocal Production (VP) offers students the opportunity to receive small group or private instruction to develop vocal performance skills. Students will utilize music technology to produce and record music in the recording studio. Student talent will be showcased throughout a multitude of facets including music/sound recording, original compositions and small ensemble/individual performances.
