Summer Social Justice Institute 2020 Application Form
The Summer Social Justice Institute (SSJI) is a pre-Customs orientation sponsored by Haverford and Swarthmore Colleges for first-year students who are interested in exploring issues of identity, power, privilege and social justice. In response to the ongoing impacts of the CONVID-19 pandemic, this year’s SSJI will be entirely online, utilizing a series of webinars, virtual discussion, and creative projects to explore the themes below. The Summer Social Justice Institute will run from  August 19 - 21, 2020

SSJI creates a context in which participants explore and share their experiences and capabilities, engage across differences of perspective, and hone their ability to build coalitions that can address critical concerns in our communities.

Participants should enter the program with the understanding that they will engage in a process of development and change as they learn about themselves, the different facets of their identities, systems of power, and their institutions.

The Summer Social Justice Institute will also give participants the opportunity to meet with upperclass students and alumni whose leadership and activism shape life on campus as well as in the many communities in which Haverford is invested.

We will review all of the applications we receive and invite 20 participants to this year's program. Applications are due by Friday, June 26th.

If you have any questions or concerns please contact Ben Hughes (bhughes@haverford.edu) or Theresa Tensuan (ttensuan@haverford.edu) in the Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA).
