The Oxford Suzuki Strings Program aims to develop your child’s interest, discipline, musical ability, and build a strong technical foundation for subsequent years of musical study, and ultimately involvement in the Oxford Orchestra program. Our belief is that a supportive and positive learning environment, coupled with the parent’s involvement as the “at-home” teacher, will enable every child to reach their full potential.

Schedule is subject to change based on enrollment.

All classes will take place 8:00am-8:30am at Lakeville Elementary School before school.

Please Note: Students will be bussed to their home elementary schools after class is complete. 

Mondays: 1st and 2nd Graders (from ALL elementary schools): 

Tuesdays: 3rd, 4th, and 5th Graders (from ALL elementary schools)

Wednesdays: Beginning Students- 1st year of playing (from ALL elementary schools): 

Thursdays: Experienced Students- 1 or more years of playing (from ALL elementary schools)

Where: Lakeville Elementary School Cafeteria

When: Two days per week (see schedule above), 8am-8:30am

How: Students need to be dropped off at Lakeville Elementary for classes and will be bussed to their regular elementary school before the school day begins.

Requirements: Parents are encouraged to observe the Suzuki classes, but not required. Your child will need to bring their instrument and materials (music, shoulder rest, etc.) to school on lesson days. Daily practice with parental supervision is necessary for optimum results.

Session Dates

Oxford Suzuki Strings runs from September 25th- June 4th

Session 1: September 25th, December 15th (Fall Break Week off, Thanksgiving week OFF, 11/30 OFF)

Session 2: January 8th-March 14th

Session 3: March 18th – May 30th (Spring Break week OFF)

Suzuki Concert: Tuesday, June 4th, 2024

Attendance Policy

Your child will have classes taught by one of our certified Suzuki teachers or a qualified substitute for each scheduled week of their paid enrollment. Please note that snow days will not be included in lessons to be made up. There are no refunds if your child is unable to attend their regularly scheduled class time.

To enroll your child in the Oxford Suzuki Strings Program:

1. Complete the registration form online at THIS LINK: 

(Registration will be open through September 29th, 2023 for our first session.)

1. You will receive tuition payment information upon completion of registration.

• Tuition is $175 per 10-week session.

• Oxford Community Schools encourages families to use our new online payment system, “SEND MONEY TO SCHOOL (INSERT LINK)” Parents will receive more information on how to complete online payments upon completion of registration.

• If you would like to pay by check, please bring a check the first week of class made payable to “Oxford Community Schools” with “[Student Name]”- Suzuki Strings” in the memo line.

• A late fee of $5 per consecutive week will be incurred after Friday, September 29th, 2023. Individual session payments must be submitted at the beginning of each session. 

• Tuition does NOT include instrument rental.

Instrument Rental

Your Suzuki Violin instructor will size students the first day of class and will provide you with rental options. Tuition does not cover instrument rentals. Please DO NOT purchase a violin online. In order to ensure a positive learning experience and avoid frustration for your child, it is vital to have a quality instrument that is properly set up and ONLY from a reputable dealer.
