Communities for Children - SE Tasmania Kid's Think Tank

Every year The Salvation Army, Communities for Children SE Tasmania (CfC) provides $30,000 of small grant funding to deliver activities and programs to our areas of Southern Midlands, Brighton, Derwent Valley and Central Highlands.

In the past the small grants were decided by the CfC Funding Panel, but now we get self-nominated, local students in grades 4,5,6 and 7  – our CfC Kid’s Think Tank – to join with a team of committed mentors to make these important decisions for us.

As a program, CfC is committed to listening, hearing and promoting the voices of our families, and our children, and this is our way of ensuring the small grant funding goes to where it needs to go – with the endorsement of our community’s savvy students!

The “Think Tank” will be held on Friday, 13th October, 2023 from 11:30 am to 3pm at the Brighton Civic Centre, 25 Green Point Rd, Bridgewater TAS 7030.

Our CfC Kids 'Think Tank' will expose students to leadership skills in action, learning about funding community projects, and working in a democracy where everyone gets a say.

It’s FREE to attend, there will be yummy food, and parents, community leaders, supportive community members are welcome to chat to Tanya Brooks-Cooper about coming along to support on the day.
