In weeks 4, 5 and 6 of Term 3, Discovery Syndicate will be having our swimming and water safety programme at Coastlands Aquatic Centre. We have used this facility a few times now and it has been a great success. The facilities and equipment at Coastlands Aquatic Centre enable us to offer a varied programme that meets the specific needs we have identified for our students.
The programme will run for just over two weeks between Monday 7th August and Monday 21st August. The school, with support from the DSPTA, will pay for the instruction and pool entry.
In previous years, parents have been asked to pay a contribution towards transport costs however this year, we have been fortunate enough to receive a grant. Therefore there will be no cost to parents for the swimming programme this year.
Students will receive tuition in life saving, water survival, life jacket and boat survival and snorkelling, as well as having swimming lessons, and use of the hydro slide.
We will depart from school on the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of Week 4 (7th, 8th, 9th Aug) and then the Monday, Tuesday of Week 5 (14th, 15th August) and Monday 21st August at approximately 12.15pm and return by 3.00pm.
Please complete the Google form below, to tell us of your child’s swimming ability, and if you are able to assist as a parent helper.
It is important to note that if you are levelling your child as a competent or advanced breather swimmer, they will be swimming in a pool that is 2.4m deep so they need to be confident when they can’t touch the bottom.
