Sign Up for Course Development Workshop for Flexible Learning Spaces
The Provost’s office, in partnership with ITS, would like to pilot a workshop opportunity for faculty to learn more about developing interactive teaching approaches for flexible learning spaces on campus.

Several Swarthmore faculty have participated in discipline-specific workshops for student-centered curriculum development (e.g, the HHMI Summer Institutes.) Such workshops typically last for 2 or more days. A main objective of the workshops is to provide a significant amount of time for participants to create and/or modify teaching materials, with guidance from experienced faculty leading the workshop, and with feedback from other participants. The goal is for the new materials to be ready for use at the end of the workshop. Often teams of multiple participants from a department are encouraged to attend together so as to give each other expert disciplinary feedback on their work.

From a previous survey we have gauged that a workshop of this kind on campus would be of value and have arranged for Thomas Wenzel of the Bates College, Department of Chemistry to come to campus June 10 - 11, 2019. We will meet in Kohlberg 116. We also have funds available to give participants a small stipend of $100/day for their participation.  We will utilize this experience to guide further workshops of this kind in the future.

In addition to this training, as we get closer to the fall semester, we will have open houses and training for AV equipment in the Flexible Learning Spaces on campus as well.

If you are available and would like to attend, please register by answering the questions below.
