There’s more than one way to frame a quilt. In addition to basic binding techniques which will be covered briefly if needed, Carole will teach the No Show binding method and the Flange binding method. We will be completing the binding during class. Students may chose to do just one of the methods, but both will be taught.
“No Show” binding is where you don’t see any binding from the front and it becomes more of an art piece to highlight the front of the quilt.
Materials needed for class: Two completed quilt sandwiches that are trimmed and ready for binding. This could also be something as small as a table runner or a fidgit mat. If you don’t have a quilt that needs binding, check in the charity/long arm cabinet for quilts that are waiting for binding.
Fabric for No Show binding should be a coordinating fabric up to 5” wide and long enough to bind the quilt
sandwich. Fabric for Flange binding is two fabrics, the flange fabric and the coordinating binding fabric sufficient to bind the quilt sandwich, sewing machine, pins, coordinating thread.
