Registration, Policies and Procedures Agreement
What is AACE, Inc.?
Affectionately known as “Friday School,” Alamo Area Christian Educators, Inc. is an organization comprised of parent volunteers who coordinate with our tutors for tutoring sessions on a weekly basis. These volunteers coordinate the facilities for our families, the tutors, and the church (for which we are a ministry). In order to register with tutors for classes, you must first register with A.A.C.E., Inc. as the umbrella organization for our tutors.Because we are a volunteer-led organization, parental volunteer time and registration with A.A.C.E., Inc. are mandatory.

I. Statement of Faith
We are excited about what God is doing for this ministry and with our students. Because teachers and leaders will integrate Christian beliefs into the lessons as they deem appropriate, please be aware of the statement of faith we follow at AACE, Inc. We are happy to minister to students of any faith and sincerely hope that anyone who has not yet received Christ will see His love lived out each week during "Friday School."

"We believe that the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, are the Word of God: that they are inerrant in the original writings: and that they are of supreme and final authority in faith and practice." (Luke 24:27, 44; 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21; 2 Peter 3:15b-16)

“We believe the primary responsibility of training a child in the way he/she should go falls upon the parents (a union consisting of one man and one woman joined in marriage) and is not the responsibility of the community, the church, or the school.” (Matthew 19:4-5; Genesis 2:24; Proverbs 22:6; Ephesians 6:4)

“We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in the Lord Jesus Christ and in the importance of iron sharpening iron in order to build up, edify, challenge and hold accountable those that call themselves believers.” (Proverbs 27:17; Romans 14:19; Ephesians 4:12; Matthew 18:15-16)

II. Philosophy
A.A.C.E., Inc. is not a school or a co-op. We are an organization of parent volunteers who coordinate with our teachers for tutoring sessions on a weekly basis. The sessions are in addition to your home schooling, not a substitute for parent-led instruction. While many teachers have courses that require weeklong schoolwork, it is your responsibility as the homeschool parent to oversee your child's education and to ensure that the work is completed prior to class on Friday. All policies regarding attendance, tardiness, and grades are dependent upon
the individual teacher. There are no formal grades or transcripts issued from A.A.C.E., Inc.

While AACE is not a co-op (an autonomous association of persons who voluntarily cooperate for their mutual, social, economic, and cultural benefits) in which each member is part of the decision-making and policy producing procedure, we are interested in what you have to say. Our goal is to be on the cutting edge of technology while maintaining the “comforts of home” in our homeschooling environment. So if you observe an area that requires attention, please do not hesitate to bring it to our attention. We do ask however that you follow a few easy steps to make sure your voice is heard. Please DO NOT call individual members of the Administrative Team or The Board with your suggestions, constructive criticism, or complaints. The Board will address only issues brought to our attention in writing (via email or USPS) for discussion and action. No
individual member of either The Administrative Team or The Board is at liberty to make decisions on his/her own, so please be respectful and do not place any person in leadership in an awkward position by asking him/her to make a decision on an issue that has not been brought before The Board.

Because we want to honor Christ in all that we say and do within the AACE, Inc. spectrum, we would ask that you refer to the guidelines laid out in Matthew 18:15-17 as it concerns issues within Friday School, and go directly to “the brother who has sinned against you” first to address any situation which may arise due to a disagreement. Only after an unsuccessful personal attempt has been made, you may then contact a member of our Administrative Team or the board members. “Moreover if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother. 16But if he will not hear, take
with you one or two more, that ‘by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.’ 17And if he refuses to hear them, tell it to the church. But if he refuses even to hear the church, let him be to you like a heathen and a tax collector.”

Together we can make Friday School the best that it can be!

III. Policies
We (the AACE, Inc. instructors, directors, and executive board members) would like to honor God by being responsible as we carry out the duties entrusted to us while diligently caring for the facilities provided for our use. We also want to teach our students reverence for what the Lord has provided for us. In this spirit, please note the
following:
o Families must be registered with A.A.C.E., Inc. in order to attend tutoring sessions with our tutors on church grounds. No student may be enrolled with any tutor without completing the A.A.C.E., Inc. registration.
o Parental involvement is MANDATORY in order for your student to attend tutoring sessions with
A.A.C.E., Inc. We need participation from every parent regularly to monitor the building, to assist in setup/cleanup, and to help in numerous other ways. Parents will be sent a link t0 the Signup Genius website where they will be responsible for scheduling their own volunteer hours. Parental commitment consists of 12 hours of volunteering per semester. Failure to volunteer bars you from further participation with
A.A.C.E., Inc. Volunteer hours are tracked when you sign in/out in the AACE, Inc.Volunteer Binder. If you do not document by signing in/out in the Volunteer Binder, you will not be
considered “in good standing.”
*Families may opt out of volunteering by paying $240 per semester/$480 for the year
o To join AACE, Inc. there is a $175 family membership fee.
o Tuition is due one month in advance and is to be paid on the first Friday of each month. You may also choose     to pay for classes by the semester or for the whole year.
o Each tutor who is not paid on time will charge a late fee of $10 per week.
o Please register for classes carefully. Our tutors are making a commitment to teach your
child/children for the full term, and you need to make the same commitment. Refunds are NOT
given for the family membership fee or for any class. By enrolling in a class, you are reserving a
spot that cannot be refilled once the semester begins, and you are committing to attend each
week. If you withdraw your student after classes begin, payment for the remainder of the
semester will be due to the tutor. In addition, the instructors may impose additional “drop fees”
as well. Supply fees are not refundable.
o Students who have not been homeschooling for at least one year will need to meet with us briefly prior to enrolling.
o It is the parents' responsibility to inform the tutor if the child will be absent. Please do not bring
your child/children to Friday School if they have had fever, vomiting, diarrhea, or any contagious
conditions in the previous 24 hours. You will be required to administer any medications to your
child/children.
o It is the parents' responsibility to inform A.A.C.E., Inc. of any allergies or conditions that could put your child at risk while attending classes.
o It is the parents' responsibility to provide for their own children’s lunches if needed. The Snack
Bar only offers drinks, candy, chips, and muffins.
o To withdraw from a class or from A.A.C.E., Inc., you must follow our withdrawal process and turn in the appropriate forms. Failure to do so will jeopardize the possibility of returning to classes at Friday School in the future.
o Only students 16 years old or older (and with parental permission) are allowed to leave campus. No student under 16 years old may leave campus without a parent or an adult guardian. All students and parents must check in AND out at the front desk so A.A.C.E., Inc. knows at all times who is on campus.
o Students are to assist in maintaining the cleanliness of the church facility by helping tutors set up or break down classrooms and picking up after themselves and others throughout the day.
o A.A.C.E., Inc. is not responsible for students while on the grounds of the church; parents bear the ultimate responsibility for their children and their children's actions. The church is not liable for any accidents or mishaps that may occur on church premises. Likewise, Alamo Area Christian Educators, Inc. is not liable for any accidents or mishaps that may occur on the premises.
o Parents must pick up students or remain on site with students who have more than one class
period off between classes. Students must remain in designated areas if they are not in class. Any student with more than one class period off will either need to be picked up or pay to attend our Study Hall (fee is $60 per class period per month).
o All students need to be picked up as soon as their last class is over each week. No student may stay later than 5pm. If you are not able to pick up your student on time, you need to make
alternative arrangements so the directors and administrators may also go home by 5pm.
o If weather conditions prevent us from meeting on any given Friday, an email will be sent out by
7am that morning. Please check your email before leaving your home when questionable
weather conditions exist in our area. If notification can occur sooner, it will. We will also post it
to our website at www.fridayschool.com as soon as the information is available.
o If you need to reach us, please do not call the church office. San Antonio First Church of the
Nazarene is gracious to host Alamo Area Christian Educators, Inc.. However, the church's staff
does not answer questions concerning A.A.C.E., Inc. or homeschooling. Please email us at
contact@fridayschool.com. That email goes directly to our Communication Coordinator and
someone will call or email you as soon as possible.
o If there is an emergency, please call your child's mobile number first. If your child does not have one, you may call (210) 364-5179.
