Great Start Home Visiting (GSHV) is a FREE program designed for families with young children (prenatal-5 years old).
GSHV uses the Parent as Teachers Home Visiting model which is proven to promote preschool & kindergarten readiness, encourages healthy early childhood development, provides free parenting resources, and connects families to the community.
GSHV pairs families with a certified Parent Educator--visits can be done in your home, outside (in your backyard or at the park), or in a classroom.
During visits, parents and child(ren) engage in a fun activity together, parents are given materials and resources regarding child development and parenting, families are connected with community resources, and more!
GSHV is a fun and meaningful way to connect with your child(ren) while gaining support and resources to help your child(ren) as they grow.
You are your child's first and best teacher--this program is designed to support you as you support your child's early learning and development. The program also offers fun Early Learning Groups (playgroups) for you and your child at several different locations throughout the county. This is a great opportunity for your child to learn social skills and enjoy some playtime with children his/her own age. It also offers an opportunity for families to interact with other parents of young children. Playroups are located in Algonac, Capac, Emmett, Ft. Gratiot, and Marysville. Groups are geared toward children ages 0-5 accompanied by a parent or guardian. **
Anyone living in St. Clair County is eligible to attend.
