As we prepare for the upcoming school year, we are in the process of finalizing the topics for our teacher professional development. Our goal is to address student needs and cater to teacher interests. We have compiled a list of potential topics and would greatly appreciate your input. Kindly select all the topics that you believe are essential to be included in our upcoming teacher professional development calendar that would best serve in meeting your child’s learning needs.

Seeing Our Students through Data: Through data analysis strategies teachers will identify students’ support and growth needs across all ability levels. This will enable them to purposefully enhance instructional practices and help students make academic gains.

Depth of Knowledge 2 (DOK 2): DOK is our school-wide instructional strategy that teachers use to assign tasks that make students think deeply. It benefits students by helping teachers design creative instruction, evaluate lessons, and boost student engagement.

Collaboration and Inclusion: Provides a specific group of teachers, who will be serving students in a small number of full inclusion classrooms an opportunity to collaborate. They will focus on designing lessons that utilize a variety of teaching strategies to effectively meet the learning needs of diverse student learners.

Book Study: Teachers will engage in a book study centered around “Collective Efficacy” by Jenni Donohoo, exploring how to foster a collaborative culture and empower educators to work together to maximize student achievement and well-being.

Sharing Best Practices: Teachers will observe effective strategies addressing students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs. They will compile practical strategies, engage in self-reflection, and improve learning experiences and outcomes for students.

Curricular Trips: Teachers will collaborate with school support staff to organize curricular trips, extending student learning beyond the classroom. Teachers will focus on selecting trips, planning pre-trip learning activities, organizing the trip itself, and designing post-trip learning activities.
