MCHS HOF NOMINATION ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA (Released: Feb 3, 2023)
ATHLETES
• Attended and graduated from MCHS.
• Graduated from MCHS at least 7 years prior to nomination.
• Must have received athletic recognition while at MCHS, including but not limited to: California State (CIF) honors,
NorCal honors, North Coast Section (NCS) honors, North Bay League (NBL) honors, setting MCHS school, League,
Section or State records, distinction in one sport or multiple sports, or other outstanding distinction or recognition.
• Must have displayed outstanding character as an athlete at MCHS, as a positive role model on campus and in the
community.
TBD: An individual athlete can be recognized as an “Athlete of the Decade” for each decade within each sport or across
all sports; Girl and Boy individuals across all sports will be given equal consideration.
TEAMS
• Achieved a championship season at least 7 years prior to nomination for the current Hall of Fame.
• Championship season equal to California State (CIF) titles, NorCal titles, North Coast Section (NCS) titles or North Bay
League (NBL) titles.
COACHES
• To be eligible, candidates must have shown excellent skills in coaching their athletic teams.
• Must have served as head coach of a varsity sport for a minimum of 7 seasons.
• Candidates must have made outstanding contributions to the school and must have displayed outstanding character
as a coach and as a citizen.
• To be eligible, coaches must be retired from his/her fulltime coaching position.
DISTINGUISHED SERVICE (or Special Recognition Award)
To nominate someone for consideration outside of the above categories (such as support staff, media personnel,
administrators, etc.) criteria should include significant service to the MCHS community through the development of
student athletes and to the athletic programs. Also, any person nominated for consideration must have made
outstanding contributions to the school and must have displayed outstanding character while associated with MCHS and
as a community citizen. Employees who are not Coaches and community volunteers are eligible under this category.
