A business incubator is a company that helps new and startup companies to develop by providing business assistance services such as management training or office space. The National Business Incubation Association (NBIA) defines business incubators as a catalyst tool for either regional or national economic development. NBIA categorizes their members' incubators by the following five incubator types: academic institutions; non-profit development corporations; for-profit property development ventures; venture capital firms, and combination of the above.
YMI Cultural Center (YMICC) will launch its 2nd Business Incubator program in January 2023. Our goal is to work alongside six (6) qualifying businesses / entrepreneurs for six to nine months.
YMICC's business incubator program is committed to economic development and entrepreneurship for Black individuals and communities. Our team of coaches and experienced business leaders and developers is interested in you and your business goals, from conception to manifestation and beyond.
Through grant funding, we are able to offer financial assistance and business guidance in the following areas:
* Business plan development
* Business launch - register, file, and start doing business
* Business management
* Financial management
* Advertising and Marketing
* Office space
* Higher education resources
* Strategic partners
* Funding sources— Venture capital (private equity financing), grants, loans, etc
* Networking opportunities
* Professional development
We are now taking applications for the following types of businesses:
* Service industry (ie. cleaning, landscaper, bodywork, coaching)
* Arts Industry (ie. visual artist, photographer, DJ)
* Private Retailer (ie. clothing store, walking tour, convenience store)
* Product Development
