Flatbush Leadership Academy is a youth mentorship program serving both males and females based in Central Brooklyn between the ages of 16-24. This 12-week innovative program recruits and supports “at-risk” youth as they journey through personal growth and development. Through creative positive peer support structure and meaningful mentorship relationships these youth are equipped to be successful leaders. Whether in person or virtually FLA fosters a creative environment that serves as a safe space for youth and a platform for their unique voices.
Mentor Qualifications:
- You have a passion for working with urban young adults (16-24 years old), an unshakable belief in their potential and a strong commitment to the mission of Flatbush Leadership Academy
- You have a sincere desire to help your mentee achieve personal and professional goals
- You are committed to diversity and inclusion
- You have professional work experience and a professional network
- You are at least 26 years old
- You can commit to your mentee for at least 6 months
- You are comfortable with the personal and logistical expectations of being a mentor
Mentor Time Commitment:
- Minimum of 4-8 hours per month
- One monthly in-person meeting with your mentee
