EVENT DAY VOLUNTEERS
EVENT VOLUNTEERS are needed before, during, and after both the Luminary Procession (Fri., 4/26) and the Procession itself (Sat., 4/27).

The Luminary Procession load-out begins at 7pm. About 10 volunteers are needed to load out, set up, hand out, pick up afterwards, and load back in.

On Procession Day, we need all hands on deck! Volunteer tasks run from 10am to 10pm, and fall into 5 main areas:
• Load-out Team, 10am-3pm. Every able body available, plus any trucks or trailers.
• Chalk distribution to the crowd, 2:00-4:30. Maybe 10 people.
• Registration Team, 3:00-4:30. Six people to handle registration and accept food donations.
• Art Distribution Team, 3:30-4:30. About 10 friendly folks to hand out windsocks, spangles, etc., to members of the crowd who didn't realize they just became participants!
• Load-In Team. This is the big one. It all has to go back up to the Art Studio when it's over. All hands on deck! Any trucks or trailers greatly appreciated, too!
Please check any of the event day tasks you can help out with below:

PRODUCTION CREWS
Our stock of windsocks, spangles, floats and big creatures are in need of some serious TLC. We are specifically looking for 3 production crews, for ongoing "work" (it's really playtime) in the Art Studio:
• Windsock Batik Nights! Every Tues., 7-9pm, with Linda Dupertuis. Freshening up our batik windsock stash. Bring snacks, friends, and smiles!
• Fish-on-Sticks Spangle Afternoons! Every Sun. 12-2pm, with Eli Sterling. We hand out dozens of spangles for participants as they line-up for the Procession. With ribbons, glitter and bright colors, each spangle is celebration art at its finest!
• Float Repair & Big Creature Creations! Every Sun. 3-6pm, with Eli Sterling. Our most iconic creatures are in need of repair and touch-up. From papier mâché and fresh paint to four-person lifts onto sawhorses, brightening up our critters is true teamwork in the making!
Please check any of the production crews you'd like to come play with below:

OTHER VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
We have a variety of other volunteer opportunities where you could really make a difference. These include:
Batik Trainees
• Bucket Drum prep
• Giant Butterfly puppet crew
• Giant Octopus - Felters (beginning or experienced)

Descriptions are below. Check any that you'd like to assist with. If none of these strike your fancy, just drop on by the Community Art Studio at the old armory on Eastside & Legion, and ask to talk with one of the organizers, to discuss how you might plug in!
BATIK TRAINEES. Learn the batik process to both teach others and keep the batik studio functioning, such as mix paint, paint table management, scrape the wax tables, keep the wax pots full, keep the hanging area organized, understand the tools, including the paint, keep the templates organized, demonstrate painting and wax techniques, distribute and explain wax removal instructions, keep the sheets organized and help others get what they need, when and how to purchase and acquire the tools and materials, and earn the coveted BA (Batik Artist) Certification!

BUCKET DRUM PREP. There is a pile of buckets in the annex building, (approx 20) that need their handles removed, bottoms sanded and holes drilled in their sides for making bucket drums.  Each bucket drum class is for 10 participants. Every 10 buckets that get prepped, means that another bucket drum class can be offered.

A couple of folks could prep all the drums in an afternoon or two. You must be comfortable with using belt sanders, oscillating multi-tools, and power drills.

GIANT BUTTERFLY PUPPET CREW. The legendary Jerry Berebitsky (famed for his giant puppets, including the giraffe, peacock, spider, and others) is back this year, creating a giant Monarch Butterfly. This behemoth will require a crew of about 12 to operate. If you would like to help this beautiful monster flitter over the streets of Olympia, then sign up below!

In addition to Procession Day itself, expect a couple of practice sessions to figure out how to get this beast off the ground.
