Criteria for receiving the Exemplary Elementary String Teacher Award are:

Effective recruiting – document the number of students in the building and the number of students in the program.  A minimum of 25% of the class enrollment must be involved in the class.

Evidence of good transition from elementary to middle level - numbers of students continuing.

Evidence of professional development 

Evidence of active advocacy for music in elementary buildings - participation in local concerts and festivals, classroom performances, meetings with principals and parents groups, etc.

Leadership in the profession - Holding an office in a professional organization, district committees for music or teachers.  Presenter at state or national convention. (Strongly encouraged but not necessary!)
