About the Gifted: Black Joy Workshop Series

This five-week virtual workshop series aims to challenge anti-Blackness by exploring Blackness specifically through the lens of art and Black joy.

Gifted aims to invite Black youth to recognize their Blackness as something that inherently makes them special, blessed, unique— something that makes them gifted!

Participants will learn and work with from Black artists to use different areas of art to express their own personal Black joy. They will have the opportunity to present their work at our online showcase, and have their work published in our online gallery.

Participants will also receive a $250 honorarium to support their work.

The workshop series is being offered by Rivers of Hope (www.riversofhope.ca), an arts-based educational organization based in Toronto, and funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
