Introduction: The Apostles' Creed is a very special prayer in the Catholic Church. The word "creed" means a statement of what you believe. When we say the Apostles' Creed we are saying that we believe in everything that Jesus taught and what the Apostles passed on to the Church. If you look closely at the Apostles' Creed (see below) you will see that there is a section dedicated to each Person of the Holy Trinity. We say "I believe in God he Father...and in Jesus Christ, his only son...I believe in the Holy Spirit." When we pray the Apostles' Creed we are able to say out loud what our faith is all about, the faith in which we were baptized. The Apostles' Creed is also something that you share in common with the rest of the faithful in the Church. All of the members of the Catholic Church personally profess the same beliefs within the Creed and are therefore connected. The Creed unites the faithful as One Church.
