Awards - Responsible for obtaining and evaluating nominations for annual awards. Makes recommendations to the Board. Has initiated new awards and made suggestions to criteria and process.
Conference - Responsible for collecting and reviewing proposals, developing the annual meeting session schedule and researching future event locations. This committee works closely with the AESS Managing Director.
Development - The reality is that not everyone has access to funding to participate in professional development. AESS wants to do more and say yes to assistance requests. This committee dedicates time to help find funding sources and leverage opportunities for non-profit advancement. No experience is necessary.
Diversity - This committee works to engage a broader and more diverse community of environmental professionals. They work closely with other committees and the AESS Board.
Membership - Primary responsibility to share the AESS love and expand membership base of the organization. Parallel goals of enhancing membership experience and working with other committees to develop and share pertinent membership benefits.
Nominations - Responsible for recruiting and nominating candidates for elective offices of AESS. Aside from the chair and chair-elect role, the 6 committee members are also elected and serve 2 year terms.
Professional Development - Designs and manages PD initiatives with the goal of empowering members to enhance their ESS career development and advance the field within their institutions.
Publications - This group houses the Branded Books Series editor, JESS editor in chief and any related professional publication interests. The group seeks to combine marketing and recruitment efforts to publish under AESS affiliated works. They also collaborate to provide professional development sessions at AESS events.
