Please read the following requirements clearly and bring the relevant documents with you on the day of Nikah.
Requirements
- Both bride and groom must be present in person on the day. Nikah is being conducted by representatives/agent of either bride or groom, the bride and/or groom must give power of attorney (or official letter attested by notary) appointing some else to act on their behalf.
- Wali must be present in person.
- Wali must be father unless he is deceased. In the case of convert Muslim women, the Imam or Wedding officiant can act as wali or appoint a responsible brother from the community to act as wali.
- If wali is abroad (out of state or overseas) – he must give power of attorney (or official letter attested by notary) appointing some else to act on his behalf. The power of attorney or official letter should clearly state the name of father accompanied by a copy his official passport or state ID. The letter should also state that he is giving his consent for his daughter and the groom to marry.
- Valid government issued ID for all parties (bride, groom, wali, and representatives.)
- Proof of residential address for both bride and groom.
- Two (2) adult male Muslim witness with government issued ID, or two (2) females and one (1) male.
- If bride has been previously married then she should provide proof of her Islamic Divorce.
An administrative fee of $25 is payable for this service. This covers the cost of materials and printing.
Masjid Al Mu’mineen reserves the right to refuse to perform the Nikah.
